Un calentador de agua solar utiliza la energía del sol directamente para calentar un fluido que se introduce en el tanque de agua caliente, es decir, su caldera tendría menos trabajo que hacer (y requiere menos energía) para obtener el agua caliente a la temperatura requerida.
